Recently had this problem with my 87. I removed the entire regulator from the door (I already had my door panels off for another project, so it was no big deal). I spray everything down with WD, but I guess carb cleaner will work too. Got it all turning smooth and, dried it all out and then used some grease to lube up the regulator. I used a white silicone grease. I guess you could use like the the white lithium grease or something....

Intalled it back in the door and then lubed up the window rail....which is where most of my binding came from.

Rolls like new, and before I could barely roll it up/down halfway before it would almost completely bind up.

While you have the door panel off, take out your door lock cylinders (there is a clip holding it to the door, undo that and then remove the pushrod). Clean them good with WD, get all the gunk out of them. I was amazed when I did this. I thought my key was hard to turn because binding in the push rods, etc...but all my problems were in the door lock cylinders. As soon as they were clean, no problems, super easy to turn.

Hope this helps
