Could someone explain how to adjust my idle -- please? [1987 22R, carb, 111k mi.]

I thought that to adjust the idle, you just turn a screw on the rotor or something.

But I'd like to know how, since I like my 1987, 22R Carbureted engine (111,000 mi.) to run super quiet and smooth with plenty of power when needed.

I think my truck it may need a minor adjustment to bring it down to that 'purr'.

Someone did it on my truck (although this could have been on my Tercel) before; and after a proper oil change and 'Prolong', it ran so smoothly, that you couldn't even tell that the truck was running!!

Now I just want to know how to adjust it a little bit -- just for information / future diagnoses.

Can anyone help? I assume that it's fairly easy.

Also, should I consider cleaning out the choke area? Vacuum hose (s)? It's carbureted so I really don't have all those components that the later models do

I know these questions seem rudimentary; but I'd like to know what the correct procedure is before even attempting this.

Sincere thanks in advance,

Tom
