head gasket 85 4-runner 22re

does anyone know if it is possible to install a head gasket without removing the intake? Was wondering if i could get the head high enough to slide a new gasket in

Yep its posable, but alot more frustrating work i'd say....gotta be able to clean the mating sufaces for the gasket

Everytime you change the head gasket you should have a machine shop look at the heads to make sure they're not warped. If you change the gasket and have a warped head, then you're just wasting your time and money.

you can remove the head without removing the intake,it is a pain because you do need to get the head out of the engine bay to clean it up proper,which means disconnecting the wiring harness which goes right back to theO2 sensor.You can check the head by rolling a metal pipe across the deck surface lengthwise .not perfection,but it'll do.
