Yes it is...A delta flow muffler is just a mellower muffler compared to the non-delta flow of the same muffler... Like they have 40 series flowmasters and 40 series delta-flow flowmasters...
its all in what you want. As they said, the delta is a mellower sound, and the regular flowmaster has a less mellow sound. I think the delta cuts down on interior rumbling as well.

I had Flowmaster 40's on my Vette and my Monte Carlo (400 and 406ci respectively) both had that amazing loud tinny throaty hot rod pop and with a hot cam its got a sweet raw sounding lope at idle. Originally I had Borlas on the Vette and the sound was ok, a bit too muffled. I had two 70 series Flo's on my Nova (350ci) and it was quieter than the 40's but it still had that agressive flowmaster sound with out so much of the gargle at idle.
Regardless of which you go with, anyone who knows cars will know its got flowmasters as soon as they hear it

I have a Flowmaster 50 Series DeltaFlow on my 3.4L Tacoma- it sounds nice and deep. The 40 Series sounds ok at idle, but has a much higher pitch sound to it when you are cruising....this can get very annoying. If you want a nice deep, mellow tone- go with a DeltaFlow 50 series.

I have a 40 flow coming out of a 2.5 inch tip and it definitely isn't as bad as these guys say it is. It isn't even close to unbearable after 2500 RPM's. I like it alot.

I went with a Flowmaster DeltaFlow 50 Series on my 3.4L v6 Tacoma because had the opportunity to hear a 40 series and a 50 series side by side on 3.4L Tacomas. The 40 sounds great at idle, but when you start to get into higher RPM ranges, it was just too high pitch sounding for my preferences...and almost got annoying (for me anyway) at cruising speeds. The 50 series had a much deeper tone throughout all the RPM ranges, and took on a nice mellow tone at cruising speeds. If you want a really loud exhaust- go with the 40; if you want a deeper tone- go with the 50 (note: it is still very loud, just not as loud as the 40 series)- it all comes down to your personal preferences and what type of sound you are looking for. The deltaflow series do not sound all that much different from the outside of the vehicle, but they produce is a lot less interior noise compaired to the original series flowmasters.
