Pickup carb question`

I have an 87 4x4 xtra cab pickup with the 22r. The carb has so many vacuum lines it is crazy. I recently purchased the truck and noticed one line has a screw stuck in it connected to nothing. There are 3 other lines running to a container type piece (size of a film canister) and go to other parts. One goes to a yellow filter and I was wondering why someone before rigged the screw in the vacuum line? I can pull it off and it still idles fine. Does not seem to make a difference. Also if i were to purchase a chilton or other type book will it have a complete carb diagram so that i can attach everything properly?
Thanks

the screws there to prevent a vacuum leak I guess. I dont know why the line would be off in the first place, or what it might go to, but usually if you do pull off a vacuum line you plug it to so you dont lose vacuum pressure to other goodies that might need it. wish ya luck though. oh, and a chilton should have a vacuum line diagram that you can follow, so you should get it narrowed down pretty quick.

if it's a smog vacuum line, it should be on the sticker under the hood as well.

You can BUY a Chilton's or Clymer's manual that may show you the diagrams. You may also find a freindly parts person at a TOYOTA dealership that can print a specific page from their computer database...or at least see where the hoses need to go from their database. (some guys are cool...others are rather dicky!)
