driveshaft for 92 4x4 reg cab?? help

i have a 92 4x4 4-cyl reg cab and when i bought it (for cheap) i found it had a small vibration. this has gotten worse each day for the last couple weeks and yesterday i greased all the joints and found that there's like, no rubber on the U-joint at the end of the rear driveshaft. there's nearly a half inch of play and it seems like the shaft's about to fall out. there's also some scoring in the metal at the joint.
i'm guessing i need a new driveshaft and U-joint all together? anyone know where i can get one? the stealership want to charge me $370 and my local spring and driveline shop says they can't help me.
one more question. i called a junkyard and they said there were two different trannys used on my truck and they had a shaft for one type of transmission, but not the other. is this true? i can't remember the two types he named - i think he said a series G and a series W. anyone familiar with this?
sorry for the long post, thanks for your help guys!

The u-joint comes out of the driveshaft.I wouldn't drive to far with your u-joint that bad because it's really hard on the rear end.

yeah, i picked up a new U-joint already and will be putting it in this weekend.

i had a friend look at the driveshaft with me because of some of the scoring in the metal, but he said it should be 100% fine once i get the new U-joint.

but, has anyone heard of the two different series trucks before?? that's a new one to me.
