Suspension is proper way to go. Who wants to see an ugly frame hanging down? And though a body lift lets you put on a bigger tire it doesn't allow any extra room for it to travel. Body lifts will also make you cut a larger hole in the floor for shifter clearance.

The big thing about lifting a truck is to have the travel in the suspension and have the clearance under the truck. Not to mention it improves the appearence of the truck. Body lifts are a cheap way out and will make the truck appear higher, but you as tercel says you see alot of the lines and cables floatin around when you expose the frame more. One other thing to keep in mind is that suspension will put a much more hefty dent in your wallet then a set of body mounts.

It depends what you plan to do with your truck, but I would go with a suspension lift. If you need more height then go with a body lift as well. Below is a link to the most common types of lifts and the pros and cons of each. Good luck...
