valve adjustments?

Theowners manual on my '94 SR5 V6 4X4 says valve adjustments every 60K. The dealer said they never adjust valves...I've got 110K on my truck now, so wondering what is up?

Are they tickin on you? I myself wouldn't worry about it until your v6 starts to sound more like a diesel. Mind you they will tick a bit anyways if your oils low.

ticking

I've had the truck since it had 10K on it and have kept it well maintained.
It's a daily driver and weekend workhorse.

The ticking is there and may have grown a bit louder as the mileage has progressed.
Nothing bad, but a maintenance thing I often think of , especially at higher RPMs on the freeway.

Other than that, I plan to do some maintenance soon and if that is recommended (valve adjustment) I'd consider it.

Other items I intend to doo are a full drain and fill lube, spark plugs, air filter cleaning (K&N),
and brakes.
Any other important stuff you can suggest?
The manual also says, charcoal canister...?

Last year my 90 was brought in for an all around fluid flush and refill.. it's a very pricey job.. :S If my memory serves me correctly he had the timing chain replaced as well as a few hoses and things and the cost of it all and labour was just over 1800 CAD. I'd suggest a timing chain replacement just for safe keeping and i'm not sure on that "charcoal canister". Hopefully someone will be able to lend you a hand on that. Good Luck!

If your oil level is good and your hearing the click clicky, go ahead and adjust them. It's not hard to do and can't do any harm, providing it's done correctly. All you need are the clearance specs, feeler gauge and a socket set. Oh yeah, throw in a valve gasket for good measure. Tighten from the middle-out.

Well, just threw some sparkplugs in last night, and some Seafoam in a fresh tank of Chevron....Gee, she seems to be smooth as a top, and quieter...
I guess 45000 miles on a set of plugs is too much...they where shot!
