If you can smell a sweet smell through the interior vents or if the oil looks milky, its a headgasket.
Im not 100% sure but Im pretty sure that Toyota is still covering any headgasket failures free of charge.

Does your rig have the 4 cyl or the six? When the waterpump on the 22re takes a shi*,it usually pukes coolant out the weephole on the waterpump, which is on the front of the motor.tru looking up from the bottom of the engine and see if you can follow the trail

according to my dealer, there is NO recall or service campaign for toyota HG's.

if the headgaskets blown, you'll know it... or you should. is any white smoke coming out of your exhaust? have you checked your radiator? looked in the engine bay? gotten underneath the vehicle? basically what i'm saying is that it's impossible for anyone to tell you where or what is leaking over the internet. you just got get in there and root around. if it's leaking from the radiator or front hoses it will blow back as your driving and possibly up into the engine bay and on the underside of your hood. keep the coolant level full or you WILL have a blown HG.

one final thing, if it is blown, fix it yourself! it's not hard and you will save yourself major cash.

Campaign is V06, ask your service for copy and why it isn't applicable.

well i found out about the recall on the hgs on the internet and the mech. that i took it to call and checked on it but my vin # wasnt one that had a recall why i couldnt tell you and either could the people at the dealership i just got off the phone with him and he was as much help as the crackpot mech. and he also says the recall ended in nov. so there was a recall if you bought it new i would be really mad but now there is nothing i can do but pay between 1200 and 1500 and still be pissed off i was under the impression that these dealers would like to keep there buyers happy and comen back but i see that this is not the case i love my 4runner and will do what ever it takes to keep it running but i WILL NOT take it to the dealership
