88 bed onto an 87 ?

hi all,

i have a chance at a cheap texas solid little 2wd 88 pickup, its the new body style after 87 old style like mine is,

i need the bed off it,

my 87 is an xtra-cab

the 88 i am looking at is a regular cab

are the beds same length ?

will the 88 bed even physically bolt and work on an 87 ?

fuel filler ?

everything else ?


anyone need any solid 88 parts ? all i want is bed and fuel tank sender unit for the guage,

it runs and everything, just needs a muffler, but no paperwork on the truck its abandoned at a motel

Just measure the lenght of the bed. I can't remember if they had different lenghts back then, but if it is the same as your 87 then it will just bolt up no problem. I put an 89 on my 86 xcab without any problems.

ok thanks, ill have to measure then
i think the late 80s are all 7 foot long(overall)
i havent ever really noticed any shorter or longer of a bed on these trucks,

but will bolt up perfectly even though body change in 88 hopefully
