4" Lift Question

Looking at any 4" lift they all require a 3 3/4 wheel spacing, does this mean new offset rims? or is there another way? And I'm also looking for opinions on a BDS system, there's a local dealer here and them seem to have decent prices. I don't think it'll be soon that I get this done but opening my mind and making a few plans for the summer.. Just let me know what you think! Thanks

I was looking at the 4" lifts, but all the ones that I've seen say that I require a set of rims that will offset my wheels out 3.75 inches and I'm assuming that only applies to the front just for steering purposes because I believe that on the lift the torsion bars are angled more to bring the wheels in? And I'm not sure if i understand what you mean when you say will the 33's be enough? Cause I'm sure 4" will provide the clearance you need for sure, and I also think that 33's will look fine under a 4" lift (as in they won't look too small).

Fud, it shouldn't present a problem. Exactly what type of lift are we talking about? I've installed three 4" trailmaster kits on '89 and '90 trucks, and the offset has never presented a problem. I had 15X10 American racing alloys on mine. The reason it sometimes causes a problem is because there is a spacer that goes from the hub to the upper control arm, that in effect raises the arm. Ordinarily, the upper CM sitsdown near the wheel itself, but after the install, it is raised to where it could contact the rubber on the tire, if you have excessive negative offset.

BTW, 33's will fit fine with a 4" kit. Also, with these types if kits, the torsion bars aren't manipulated.

Ok thanks a lot for the help, so all in all, the stock toyota rims should do fine on the 4" lift. Thanks again.

To make sure, take your wheel off and measure the offset. Put a straight edge on the rim (make sure it's not resting on the tire) and measure from it to the mounting surface of the wheel. There is some variation to this "rule" depending on the width/style of tire to be mounted.
