Question Cam shaft – timing chain question

I’m replacing the timing chain in my 93 truck (22re). I’m just about to start pulling off the sprockets but I have a question. How can I keep the cam shaft from rotating while I’m replacing the sprockets and chain?

Thanks,

Doesn't really matter as long as you line up the marks again when you put the new chain on. Holding it still while getting that cam bolt out is the real problem. I stuck a bar through one of the camgear holes to brace against the head then broke the bolt loose.

Thanks for the reply’s.

This is my first time tearing this far into the engine. I’ve heard of cam shafts moving around once the chain is off due to the pressure of the springs. Good advice about the sprockets being notched. I’ve got the engine at top dead center. If the cam moves I can always rotate it back and use the top sprocket as a reference.
