Head gasket warranty costs

I have had the head gaskets for 94 4x4 Pickup completed under the V06 campaign at a local dealer along with some regular maintenance. Upon reviewing the bill I find a EGR valve and pipe at $480.00 being was replaced without anyone saying anything. After some questioning of the service department as to why since the truck had no problems they said it was broken in the removal to do the head gasket work and Toyota does not cover external components when this happens. Is this correct for other people's experience?

JMO but, I think you are being taken. I'd talk to the manager at least. You are not responsible for their lack of disclosure and workmanship. Don't you have some sort of consumer protection agency where you are? If this happened here, there would be a law suit initiated in a "New York minute".

They cannot replace something without your knowledge, go straight to the service manager about this. If he doesn't help then go to manager.
