Does coolent level affect idle speed and how?

Yes, if it is too low the coolant temperature sensor (CTS), cold start injector time switch, and possibly the air valve may not have coolant running through them, causing the computer to freak out.

If coolant level does get warm enough computer will stay in open loop and use more fuel and idle higher
