91 22re help

Hay all! New to Toyotas so I'm sure I will have lots of questions.
I just bought a 91 4X4 pick up paid $2000. Its for my 16 y/o son.
Its got a 4" lift 35" tires K&N fliter,Header and exhaust.
It has 160,000 miles and just had some head work done.
The machinic said it needs a timing chain kit.

So I have a few questions and will number them so I can keep track.
(i'm getting old I'll be 50 in June and it sucks) that and

1) Best place to buy parts.
2) What parts do I need.
3) Is there anything else I should do or buy while I'm doing the timing chain.
4) Where is the best place to get info on how to replace the timing chain.
(I have a Chiltons)
5) Is it hard to do.
6) I was told to do it right and get a new timing case housing, the timing chain kit, a new head gasket and oil pump.

The kid and I will be doing the work so he can learn.

I would say search these forums and you can find out the answers you're looking for,but aftermarket timing chain kits are o.k.,but buy a tensioner from Toyota. If your truck just had some head work, the gasket should be new.The chain is not difficult,But it will take you a day the first time you do one.You shouldn't need a new housing ,unless yours is worn thru from the chain smacking on it.I personally have never had to replace an oil pump.Do a valve adjustment and after that make sure your idle is set around 850RPMs when warm.

The best thing to do is to get a double row conversion form Lc engineering. It has a new cover, timing chain w/ metal guides, oil pump, water pump, oil pump drve spline, bolt kit and gaskets. The only other things u need is oil pan and top end gaskets9 head, valve, etc.) Stock 22re timing chains are a proven problem so the upgrade kit is a major improvement. The metal guides replace the stock guides which are plastic and usually break causing the chain to rub the cover.
