22R funky idle problem

I am experiencing a rough idle (running very rich, black smoke etc) in my 83 4x4 until the truck is warm and then I turn it off and then back on again. Then idle is fine and runs great. Occasionally the idle will smooth out when I drive it for extended periods of time (>30 min) without turning it off adn restarting it. It is the stock aisin? carb. Anybody have an idea what could be causing this? I'm not familiar with toyota as this is my first one so I don't know what little elec bs parts are on this carb. Any suggestions on what to check would be great. Things I've done already:

-unstuck elec choke butterfly (it now is functioning correctly but problem still exists)
-lots of carb cleaner through it
-cleaned linkage and other moving parts attached to outside of carb
-basic tune up
plugs
wires
timing
cap/rotor

Check on the side of the carb, there's a vacuum line that goes to a AAP valve, which is a diaphram that is vacuum operated on the side of the carb.. I bought a used toy once and found that was leaking causeing fuel to be pulled in with the vacuum. I also had a friend buy a used toy and he was wondering why his was running like that, and we went right for that diaphram and it cured the problem. I hope I have the intials right for the name of that valve. Its been so long since I had a carbed toy. I forget what I use to know. nyway, if you buy a toy part number its 40 bucks plus. Good Luck
