So my question is, will the mechanicle pump suck the gas through the electronic noprob or should i use the electronic (just wire it up on a switch) ??
i'm not too inta taken the pump out cause the other tanks screws are all rusted ta shyit....

I don't think your mechanical pump would pull gas through the electrical one.If you are not gonna change the sending unit then you could wire it to a switch, maybe so it comes on when the ignition is on.You'll probably want to by pass or get rid of the mechanical pump.you might need to install a fuel pressure regulator too..You could heat the rusted bolts to get the old sending unit off,BUT,You HAVE to fill the tank with water to push out any fuel vapor before getting open flame anywhere near it.
thanks! i just tried to do it without any changes (sucking through the elec. pump) but the carb bowl got pretty low so i was leaning towards the switch jobbi, then figured it might b easier to take the pump off and run a line to the bottom of the tank.
The regulator would of slipped my mind fer sure!
will b bolting er up tomorow.
i thank you for your time eh!

Fubar? lol ummmm D'know.....well i got the tank back in, but it turns out i busted one of the metal hoses for the sending unit lol the Mech pump sucks air now.
the fuel sender units are a different size (round part that bolts up). So i'm thinking of making a "donut" that will bolt on and then bolt the smaller fuel sender on to the invention lol
oh and also thinking of cutting an access hole in the bed that will bolt back in, cause its a pain removin that gas tank and even worse putting it back inlol
can you slip a rubber hose over the metal line?or is it broken off flush with the sender top?Man,you've got some ambition to play around with that setup...I saw my old 2wd in the police impound,it's going for auction soon,Maybe you could drop by Halifax and pick it up for $50 bucks, the tank is good-lol-
LOL $50 Yes hahaa.....yeah the metal line is only half an inch at the most...i might b able to clamp a hose on it, i'm gonna play with it tomorrow (well friday)
But yeah its official, my truck is a lemon...the first 2 treated me like gold though...3rd is a charm i guess
lol would like to burn the B***H to the ground, but she's running now....just did the donut thing, and umm didn't cut the hole in the bed...had the tank in and out 2 separate times, last one only took me 2 hours n 45 min

I had a very similar problem with my 88 pickup. The Feul line coming out of the tank broke on mine. I ended up getting a toilet floatin place of the round thing that screws on to the tank, and putting some new fuel line down through it. It works fine for me.
You have more perseverence than me though, I can tell you that. I got sick of trying to get the gas tank off, so I took the whole bed off then got to it from the top. this only took me about an hour.
