Timing chain oil seal
1990 3 Liter V-6 pickup with 150,000 miles is leaking oil at the timing chain. Local auto repairer wants $600.00 for repair. He does do excellent work from past experience.
This includes replacing the timing chain, tensioners, seal & water pump. Does this sound reasonable? Per the mechanic - timing chain is $185 and water pump is $79.67. Labor is $300.
Is this a difficult job? Are any special tools required.? I have replaced a GMC pickup clutch and overhauled a couple of in-line 6 cylinder engines, but it has been about 30 years.
Thanks-
