which suspension lift?

im trying to decide which suspension lift i should put on my 94 singlecab 4x4. I currently have a 3" bodylift 33's and 4.88 gears. just wanted to know what you guys have. and if you had any rants or raves about a certain brand. Im looking at superlifts kit, skyjacker, or procomp stage 2, all of which I will opt for rear springs instead of blocks, cause i heard the ride is better with springs. oh yeah where did you buy your lift? thanks

Summitracing.com is a good start I would go with a ProComp 4"front 3.5" rear is the config im lookin for and your right about blocks they can warp springs and wear them out

What kind of wheeling do you do? Trails/ fireroads, rocks, mudholes,

I did the Superlift thing; and man what a PITA! I regret doing it. Looking back now I should have done a straight axle swap, the cost is about the same (if youre resourceful), Plus the off-road performance is way better. If you do mostly Street driving and the occasinal trail run then IFS is the way to go.

I have the Superlift system and superlift rear springs and so far the kit is solid. But beware when you torque those torsion rods because you will eat the CV axles in no time.

You can tighten the bars just about as much as you want, the ride will suffer tho'. You will get a harsher ride the tighter you set them, AND also take into concideration(sp) the age and milage on those bars, because they are pretty tired by now.

Measure the height Ground to frame, tighten the bars (on jackstands) Put wheels back on ground and remeasure. Repeat as nessary(agian SP)

I have Downey Off-Road torsion bars 23mm i belive. I just kept adjusting them untill I got the height I wanted. Here is a link for the catalog . http://www.downeyoff-road.com/Suspen...ents/index.htm Best $6.00 bucks I have spent there is a lot of good info here.

The problem is when you tighten the torsion bars it willl change the angles of the CV Axles to extreme angles (Boots will tear so keep Duct tape handy). In my case the larger torsion bars and the super lift kit have made the ride a little bit on he bouncy side but not uncontrolable. I still love to rip down a fireroad or hit some dunes! But if you want to climb over Logs and rocks IFS is not the way to go, the wheel travel is really limited, and without lockers (air, cable, spool) you will be in some trouble.

I my self am in the planning stage of doing a SAS on my Yota, last years hurricanes put this pig to the test.

THINGS TO DO:
Custom snorkel, relocate ECU, SAS! with either a good limited slip or locker.

AGAIN:
Downey Off-Road has great customer service and very cool people to talk to; also I found that Northwest Off-road is a good source for tech questions about the products they carry, and they even went as far to contact their venders to get the answers and then call me back.

Sorry for the long post..
Maybe someone else will chime in also

hey lokngo thanks for the good info, do you have to to tighten the torsion bars? if that sounds dumb its cause i dont know much as how the lift works. so lets say i get the kit done, why would I want to adjust the torsion bar setting? oh by the way I am not a rock crawler, mostly a daily driver wanting a little more height. so how you like the superlift would yopu recommend it over any other ifs lift?

The best lift out there is fabtech 6 inch lift . My 98 tacoma has one and a 3 inch body lift with 35 inch tires . There is noting out there like this lift that does not change the factory ride . Coil spacer mess up your travel and put extra strain on your ball joint and cv joints . I gave my spacer away after my cv joint boots busted open . Go with new longer spindels and drop brackets , Fabtech got em . Everyone got there own opinion this is my 2 cents . Peace
