I have a 1993 toyota p/u with the guage cluster without the tach. I was wondering how hard it would be to put the guage cluster with the tach, i think its the Sr5? Where would i get one? Would i be easier just to install a new tach?
On the later Tacomas, the trucks were wired for everything (tach, etc.) whether or not they were fitted with the full-featured clusters. For those later trucks, you could just get a tach cluster and hook it up. I don't know if this applies to the pre-Taco's like your '93.
Used clusters tend to run around $100 US, and to comply with state and federal laws you'd need to mess with getting the odometer recalibrated to show the correct mileage for the vehicle.
What I'm driving at is this... If all you want is a tach (and you're not picky about having everything 'stock'), it's probably more cost-effective just to add an aftermarket one.
You can usually find plenty of tach clusters on ebay. Mine is a '86 4runner and it took some wiring/rewiring to get the tach cluster working. It was not plug and play but yours is a different cluster so .

Yeah bro i want to do the same thing. But the way i see it is your better off gettin a tach rather than the sr5 dash. i mean you know the sr5 dash is the shit but is it worth the headache? but if your gonna get a tach dont get one of those rice tach the ones that are like 6 inches and go up to 12000 rpm and our redline is not even half.. and you know u could also just get a gauge pod for oil temp water temp and vol/amp
