Truck getting hot

Hi, I have a1993 toyota pickup, 4 wheel drive, with a 22re engine. I got it in January of this year and have had an intermitent problem with the temperature going up. I have searched this forum and haven't found an answer to how the truck is acting, so I thought I would ask about it. Every so often the truck temp gauge will almost get to the red zone. I stop the truck and start it right up again and it is fine. I have checked the radiator(it is fine) the coolant level doesn't change and I changed the thermostat. The only other thing that I can think of is the hose may be collapsing and blocking coolant flow, since it only happens every so often. Anyone have any other things I could look for?
Thanks

I dont know what the problem could be but instead of turning the truck off right when it starts overheats try turning your heater on full blast. That should drop the temp. I would not do this and ignore the problem, this is just to keep driving until you pinpoint the problem.

yeah ... change the heater control from heat to cool ... make sure you have the flow ..

on an extreme case ...i have seen the fins on the water pump eaten away from the coolant turning acidic , because of never changing the coolant . Has the coolant been changed in the last 4 years?

im sorta against turning the engine off immediately after you notice the engine gettin hot. when that happens, i would just pull over and let it idle (in park or neutral, but not drive), with heater on full blast. im havent been experiencing any overheating problems, but after some hard driving, i dont immediately turn off the car when im bout to leave it, i usually just sit for a couple minutes and let the engine idle, and wait for radiator fan to slow down to normal speed, then i leave. im no engine cooling expert, but what im doin can't hurt. i mean, they've got turbo timers to do this stuff for you (i kno the primary benefit is for the turbo oil cooling, but ive read somewhere that n/a cars can also benefit from these). so basically, im ghetto-turbo-timing (thats not an actual term btw).

Could just be the temp guage. I had a similiar problem and after doing a cluster swap, the temp guage slowly comes up to mid range and then stays steady. I had changed thermostats, coolant and sender. I think the guage was just showing its age.
