Motor?

I have a 90 4Runner SR5 with a 3VZE (I think). When I bought it I was told the motor was swapped and is 91. How can I tell for sure? It's kindy pointless to explain my idle issue if I don't know what motor I have. Any help would be great.
Thanks

As far as I know, there's no way to tell. My friend bought a 93 with a JDM replacement and we couldn't identify it either. Not at the dealer, on the web or at a local import truck specialist.

What does your idle do?bounce up and down?you can search the posts,it's a common problem.you should check that your idle speed is properly set when the truck is warm.it should be about 850rpm.also check that the throttle cable is not too tight,it can cause the same problem
