Post Engine Swapping

I want to put a bigger engine in my 89 pu and I've narrowed the choices down to either: ford 302, buick 261, chev 4.3L (Vortec), or chev 4.3L (non-Vortec?). I can't decide and would appreciate any oppinions on engine choice and tranny selection. If any one has done any of these swaps or has done another similar one and had it work please give me an opinion.

Money is the big factor. If iwas going through the trouble i would go with the 302. but the v6s would give more room under the hood. Using the v8 you need at least a 2in. body and 2 in suspension lift for clearance. I think you have to have a special oil pan to.

22r to 22re swap

Hey guys. I am also in the middle of an engine swap. I put a 1990 22 RE in a 1987 4x4 carburated truck. Every thing is in and mounted truck will crank, have fuel , and fire at the plugs but it won't start. Several sites have spoke of 4 or 5 jumper wires, but never say what they are. I did splice in the old connecter from the battery to the new coil. Am at the end of my knowledge. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Steve
