maybe I need a cooler name

I want to put a bigger engine in my 89 pu and I've narrowed the choices down to either: ford 302, buick 261, chev 4.3L (Vortec), or chev 4.3L (non-Vortec?). I can't decide and would appreciate any oppinions on engine choice and tranny selection. If any one has done any of these swaps or has done another similar one and had it work please give me an opinion.

keep it in the family

i think you should put another yota engine in it, but if you must go domestic, i have seen people use the chevy v6.

Put a Toyota 3.4L V6 in it. That engine will fit easily.
Please dont put a Ford or GM engine in it, they wont last anywhere near as long as a Toyota engine will.

Why have a Yota and put a domestic engine in it. Just get a domestic truck and let it break down every 2 weeks. Get another Yota engine and build that up. If you really want a GM or Ford engine, well we can't stop you.
