Engnbldr Kits

I want to purchase one of his Master Kits, but I'm not sure which cam i want to lean towards... It seems he's offering 3 types and he's sold out of the EPN 268° .425.now is there a reason he is sold out of this particular cam or am I looking for one of the others? I want to get as much power out of the engine without putting any stress on it so let me know what you guys think. I also want to get a set of stainless valves too. Thanks for any input.

It depends on where you want the power band at. The cam you listed is suppose to be great for daily drivers. The one under it that one i think is a 260 and it is for low end torque and the top one he offers is for high end power.

I guess I'm more after the torque then anything, what kind of a difference is it going to make and is it worth the bang for my buck? I'd really like to do a bit of a rebuild on this engine. Once in a while I'll hear a knocking coming from it at idle but then i'll give it some throttle and let it idle again and it's gone.. makes me sorta suspicious of the oil pump. Also I have a buddy that built a 22RE bottom up and had it bored out 40thou. He had the truck doing donuts on pavement with his 33's! I had to say I was impressed.

go for a 262 cam its mild but u see some performance more torque and smooth idle. once u get higher u gotta start replace head stuff like followers, rockers ect plus your gas economy goes wayy down. i got a buddie whos runnin a 290 with stock interns he has no probs but u still run the risk.

You are suppose to change rocker everytime the cam is changed because they will have a wear pattern on them and can cause the new cam to fail. The stock efi can run a 280 adv. duration cam with slight modifying to the afm. I called crane and comp to see what they recommended. Crane said their 262/272 and comp said their 260s was the best. The dual pattern of the crane will give better throttle response than the single patter of the comp. If i was using the ones u listed i would go with the 268 because it will have a smooth idle to and u will have power in the mid range for highway running and still have a better low end power than stock. Header and big bore throttle body will also help performance. I also recommend using new springs with a cam swap along with rocker arm.
