2wd rear leaking

OK so I just get home from getting my newer bed with very little rust.
I look under the truck cause I notice the tire is hanging and when I grab it it's covered with gear oil . Is it time to replace it or is it fixable? Just wondering is there a seal that I can replace, it's leaking from the drain hole.

are you sure it's the drain hole and not the front seal?put a new thrust washer on if it's the drain and check the filler in back and the vent on top as well.the vents get clogged, press on it and see if it feels loose and springy-you can take the tops off and clean out the crud without much trouble.

Not sure about the front seal, just looked at it from behind last night. It was late so I wasn't going to investigate it any further last night. Is the Thrust washer something that I can get from the auto parts store or is it a dealer item? Going to pick up some gear oil on the way home before I start messing with it. Of course now I hear the rear when driving, nothing grinding but I notice it.

Thanks

I'm not sure about the washer but wherever you get one,i don't think they cost much.

OK so I started to take a look at it yesterday after work, but my wife "needed" to run erands so I could tear into it. Since there was 20 years of crud I just hit it with degreaser and cleaned it up. At least I will be able to pinpoint the leak this way. I also drained the gear oil and put some fresh oil in since it was pretty cheap. I didn't get a chance to break out the manual but I noticed where the drive shaft meets the rear there was oil there as well. I can't tell if it was just the lowest point or if there was a leak there as well. But there was a nice line of crud on the gas tank that obviously spun off from there.
