Considering Tacoma with 147,900 miles -- What should i look for?

I'm considering buying a 1996 Tacoma that has 147k miles. In order to make sure this vehicle can keep going for at least another 50k what should I look for? The seller has some maintenance records so what should i make sure he's done?

From another thread i picked up this website:
http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/maint...ma_4runner_30k/

It's helpful, but I'm assuming there should be some things that break down by 147k. For example, timing belt, water pump etc.

Also, it's an automatic so i'm wondering when it will go.

Thanks!

The timing belt needs to be replaced at 90k on the 5VZ-RE (3.4L V6) engine. If he took good care of the truck, that will have been done on time, and the water pump and all "fan belts" would have been done at the same time. Check for replacement of wires, plugs, filters, and oil/filter change intervals. I run my truck all highway, and change the oil and filter every 5k. You should also check records for differential fluid changes (especially if it's a 4x4).

Check http://www.nhtsa.gov for any recalls that might be relevant to the vehicle, and ask for records that they were performed.

Hope that helps...

Check for brown coolant-I've read of 2 guys on this site that have that problem with that generation Tacoma-see if you can get documented coolant change info.
