1991 4x4 5speed truck troubles

Hi,

My Dad owns a toyota 4x4 and he says that his baby running poor on high speeds or when he accelerates. Idles great on park?
Last time I drove the truck it seems like it lacking fuel, or the clutch slips. What would cause this problem? What would I need to look at first before I start tearing parts off the truck?

Thank you in advance.

If it seems like it's lacking in fuel I would say change the fuel filter first. but that would cause more of a spudder I would think. Maybe someone has a better opinion. If it feels like the clutch is slipping then that calls for a new one :P

elmer,
I thought that was my dad's truck for a second by looking at your sig.

I was about to change the fuel filter yesterday but he got the wrong aftermarket replacement part. Told him to return it and get himself a orig one from dealer. It may cost twice as much but last longer i would bet.

i should have taken the truck for a spin yesteday so I can see how poor it runs now. But according to my dad, he said that when steps on the gas, it will choke from some point. I will go ahead and change that fuel filter and hope that solves it. seems like it has not been changed since day 1.

If the clutch is slipping the rpms will rise while going uphill while the speed stays the same or drops.
You might have a partially clogged fuel filter or if its EFI you might have a clogged injector.

Just outta curiosity, would the engine light come on with a clogged injector?
