I have a new LC Pro Street EFI, if I hold the RPM's at 2,000,with no load, the RMP's drop than go up . This goes on at an increaseing pace. Was told there was air in the cooling system, & to cycle the temp by truning the fan off( have a electric fan). Than was told it may be the thermosat, as the engine was running at 150. Found a bad thermosat ( stuck open), replaced with a speacial one from Toyota. Now running at 180, opens at 190. Have but 60 miles on the truck, & the RPM's still do the same thing?
Any help please! This is a 2wd 88 Extra Cab

I am having the same problem with my 88 4x4 and it started after the engine was rebuilt. I tried a new tps sensor and it didn't help but if i turned it to where it was out of specs it would stop. I have been told that it is the coolant temp sensor but have not tried it yet. The problem on mine is only when the truck is at operating temp.

Reason: spelling
i know that it is still a new engine, but once it gets broken in let us know how you like it and how it performs. also, can u tells us your engine specs, you know, like displacement, horsepower, torque, gas mileage. cool, thanks.
The engine should be broken in ,I have 2,900 miles on it now. This problem was found when I went to smog it. Didn't pass. Was told that the RPM's dropping is because the computer is senting a cold start single .& fuel is dumpping, causeing a very rich condition. With the new thermosat it is at the right tem. So don't know why it hasn't cleared up?
The engine runs real strong. This is a 2.5L, 145-200 HP, with froged 94mm pistos, ported & polished head & intake runner,2mm over sized stainless valves street performer crank, double row timming chain, clevite 77 Pro rod bearing, ect. Also have there big bore throttle body, pro street clutch, 8lb flywheel,& short throw shifter. Theres a photo of it on LC site. Also more photo's a MiniTruck Zone.
Could the problem be at the TB senser? Not sure it was never set right. And can it & the tem sensers be tested, dont't want to just start replacing parts.
Just to know, the he rpm problemfinally went away!LC said the computer won't reset for a 100 miles or more! Will be resmoged tomorow !Will post results!
