Is the 01-04 Taco clutch pedal made out of plastic?

The plastic clutch pedal in the '05 is really lame. The same plastic pedal is used in the 4 and 6 cylinder trucks.

It's probably a long shot, but I was hoping that maybe one from an earlier Tacoma could be swapped in. Anyone got pics?

Here's the '05:

Not to criticize your opinion, but what is it that you have against it? To me it doesn't look like it's going to break anytime soon.

Elmer: It's a very stout piece...my complaint is that in order to get that strength, the pedal arm itself is massive. Compare it to the typical pedal arm made of steel. It's easily 3 to 4 times as bulky. The added bulk makes for a lot of awkward moments when you're trying to shift. It also positions the pedal very high off of the floor in order to get the required travel to fully disengage the clutch.

If someone could take pics of their '01-'04 Taco clutch pedal, I would greatly appreciate it. I have the shop manuals for the '04 and '05 and the way the clutch pedal sub-assembly comes out looks very similar in both trucks.

I don't think the '04 pedal will bolt in, but I think if all of the parts (spring, pedal, pedal bracket, etc) are swapped over, it might work.

Sonny,It sounds like you went to the same school as me.Plastic sucks. If it was such a great idea, why didnt they make the brake petal out of plastic too?Im still pissed at my cheesy plastic front bumper, and ive seen a lot of guys swap out for forerunner bumpers.Good luck on your quest.
