I have been fighting with My carb for just over a week.I have a 22r engine.I can start My truck when she is cold,no problem.it will idle high tho.I give her gas and she stalls out.it will restart and do it all over again.sometimes I evn have to manually close the butterfly fully for it to restart
any ideas?

Sounds like it starts fine 'cause it's choked and then when it warms up and kicks the choke off,you lose your gas-try adjusting the idle up.It only idles fast on start up because of the automatic choke.

ok .... so now I would take a can of "cold start" ... and spray it on all vacuum lines and carb bace plate ... could be a vacuum leak . If the idle changes at all with the cold start , there is your problem .

My 86 22R was really running poorly. Bad idle, poor milage, backfires, exhaust stink...... I bit the bullet and bought a rebuild kit from NAPA. I have the factory shop manual which makes the job much easier. Paid attention to detail doing the rebuild. All the internal rubber parts were shot. Didn't touch the float. Now it runs like new. Gas mpg up to 20.
