Canada Clutch release cylinder rebuild or replace

Apperently about 3 months ago I noticed that my clutch master cylinder's reservoir (bucket) was somewhat low on clutch fluid (DOT 3 brake fluid) so I topped it of (I only drove about 1500 KM in the past 3 months) and now it was almost completely empty so when I went underneath my truck I noticed that the rubber boot for the clutch release cylinder was wet.
I never repaired/replaced the clutch release cylinder so I would like to know if I can tackle the job myself as I don't have a torch, welder, other specific tools or even the SST # 09751-36011 (special service tool). All I have is basic metric hand tools (sockets, rachet, open end wrenches),Gedore Torque wrench and the FSM (factory service manual).
Genuine original Toyota parts in Canada cost a small fortune so I would like to know if I can buy a clutch release cylinder rebuild kit from Toyota,Aisin or any other good quality manufacturer if so I need the corresponding part #'s and a website for the manufacturer so that I can find a local dealer for the rebuild kit if rebuilding is better,if not then other brand names & part #'s for the clutch release cylinder.
Please note: that my truck is 20 years old and rusted everywheres so that might help you to tell me whether I need a new one or rebuild my own, also do I need new clutch lines? if so what are the specs?and what are they called?.Thanks in advance for help/replies.

Never have rebuilt a slave cylinder, just replaced them which takes only minutes. I'm sure it's extremley easy to rebuild and can be done with common tools as long as the cylinder bore isn't pitted. Can't be harder than rebuilding a wheel cylinder. Thanks to your detailed info about your 4runner, I was able to look up the part# of a rebuild kit for the slave cylinder via my genuine toyota set of microfiche slides (thanks you ebay!). The part# for the rebuild kit was 0431322020 but has been superceeded to part#0431312030. Cost is $8.84 through 1sttoyotaparts.com

hi sidney,

ironically i just did this procedure 2 days ago.its actually pretty easy to pop out the plunger and clean out all the gunk and may not even need the re-build kit just get all the grit out . i used a dental pick to gently clean out the ring depression where the end of the spring seats and rinsed with some wd-40 then wipe out. last before re-install flush the resivoir and line good with new fluid re-attach and bleed and no more leak.
