i have a bone stock 1980 toyota 4x4 pickup. i want to get a lift for it, but i am not sure what brand to get. i don't want more that four inches of lift. i just want to be able to fit 32's or 33's without rubbing. price is not a huge deal, but i don't want to break the bank. i know that tough country and superlift make them, but i have not heard much about them. i know that downey makes one, and i have heard good reviews about it.
i was wondering what brands you guys have (keep in mind the model year 1979 to like 1984). if you guys have experience with one or know some one who has, let me know.
i was lookin at the custom tacos site and it was talkin about drop down brackets. it says that you can get a 6" lift out of it with IFS. i looked for the brackets on the trail master link but i couldnt find it. any ideas. is there something that i have to add to the brackets to make it a 6" lift? thanks in advance

ALL PRO makes the best but it is a little pricey. Superlifht is probably the best if all your trying to do is put larger tires on. But if your going for handing and 4 wheeling I would do anything else but ALL PRO. If your looking to do a cheap lift 3" (which does fit 33s) you can usually find 3" front springs in a junkyard and the just buy a block kit for the rear. With only 3" you wont have to worry about steering arm or brakelines. The junk yar way the springs should'nt run you more than $150 for the pair and block kits are cheap $40-$100.
well thanks for the info, but i already have a 3" body lift. i would like to get a 6" suspension lift. on customtacos.com it talks about gettin drop-down brackets to give u a better lift for IFS. it says that it puts less wear on CV's and ball joints than using other methods of suspension lifts. but the problem is, i cant find where to get the drop-down brackets, as custom taco call them, and i cant find a 6" lift, trailmaster had a 4" but customtaco said they had a 6". maybe now u see my delema. thanks for the help though

I am confussed. The first post is about lifting a solid front axle and right after that everyone is talking about lifting a taco. What is the question and was this post taken over???
in a way this post was taken over. but this post had been sittin for a little bit. also i was just lookin around at stuff and when i saw the customtaco link i went there to check stuff out. and because of that i had a question about the suspension lifts.

yeah, the post was taken over, but i have been reading the new posts, and some of them help. i do have a solid axle, and i was thinking about a leaf spring lift. i don't want lift blocks, i am looking for a pure suspension lift. i am going to wheeel this thing every once and a while, so i don't just want a cosmetic lift. (don't get me wrong, i still want it to look good.)
side note: what about leveling kits. the front sits lower that the rear, and i think i want to level it out when i lift it. could i just use a four inch lift in the front and like a 2.5 or three in the rear? or do i have to find a leveling kit seperate from the lift?
I have the Pro-Comp 4" lift on my 82 Toyota longbed 4x4 and would recommend it. I have had it on for over 3 years and have never had any problems. It is a spring lift front and rear-no blocks-and my truck sits level now.
cool, what size are your tires and what gears are you running? did you have to do anything extra after the lift to make it all work, like steering, brakes, etc.?
I am running 33 12.50 15 mud terrains on 15x10 rims and just had it regeared to 4.88 with a locker in the rear. Nothing had to be done to the steering or the break lines and everything runs fine.
