Do we need mods for the 3.0?

This could be a good opp for the 4R community....

I searched and did not find references to a MAF conversion. The shop that is setting up a MAFci intake and a shift kit for my ragtop Solara (www.cp-e.com) is open to doing work on my '95 4Runner if there's need for something. They can do about anything as it's a team of engineers that started the business. For intake they said that they would try a MAF conversion. On another car, they found a lot of hidden HP when the VAFM was replaced. (about three times the average intake mod.)

1. I see there are intakes out there but does anyone know of an existing MAF conversion kit?

2. Is there a common problem with 2nd generation 4R (90-95) that has not been addressed? For instance, the Mazda 6s had lame engine mounts that started failing so CP-e just released a better one.

Put in your two cents and I'll pass on any recommendations. All we need is interest. Enough to warrant me driving my 4R out there (1500miles round trip) and enough to convince them that it would be a marketable product. I love this truck but she's way underpowered. I wouldn't mind adding 20-30 HP to the wheels. Thanks!

I have not heard of a MAF conversion for the 3.slow. About the only thing that you can do to improve power are new headers and a free flow exhaust. Check out Yotatech.com for good info on 4Runner mods.

Does the 3.0L need mods? YES! 150 hp isnt enough power, especially in a 4Runner.

Cool

There's a 3vz-e to 7m comversion on yotatech.

I don't personally see the worth in it for someone without FI on the truck. Just pop the top off and lean the mixture a tiny bit. You'll get performance from that.

They are in Beltsville, MD. It seems that the only thing out there for decent boost is the headers. That's pretty pricey though. MAF conversion might be the cheapest bang for the buck. They'd do a proto if there was interest. Sounds like they'd be the only show in town. But that doesn't mean anyone would buy it. So would any of you consider it if the Dyno said you'd get a decent bump? How much would be worth it? 10, 20, 30 HP to the wheels?

P.S. Thanks for the yotaTech tip. I'll look it up.
