05' Clutch 2.7Ltr

New to the Toyota truck driving a manual. Had a Ford Ranger Manual, but never Toyota.
Any way, it cathes way up high, and by the time it finally cathes my rpm's are about 1600
I had a civic and it let out low, and could start about 1300 rpm. Will 1600rpm really hurt it that bad...Untill I get used to it anyway?

Thanks,

Clint

I dont think it will hurt anything. I owned an '85 4Runner when I was in highschool and I used to engage the clutch with the revs at 1500 rpm.
As long as you arent doing redline clutch drops, using the clutch to slow you down, using the clutch to keep from rolling back on uphill stops and riding the clutch pedal; I think the clutch will last you at least 150,000 miles.

Thats normal. Toyota sets up their engines with a high cold idle. It makes the engine warm up quicker. The quicker the engine warms up, the less fuel it will waste.

But will 2000rpm hurt the clutch all that much?
I mean, it stays there for awhile, until the engine is at normal running temperature.

I think that engaging the clutch at 2,000 rpm in the morning wont hurt it all that much. If nothing else, let the engine idle for a bit in the morning (untill the idle drops down to 1500 rpm). Either way, engaging the clutch at 2,000 once in the morning isnt going to hurt the clutch all that much.
Like I said, riding the clutch pedal, using the clutch to prevent you from rolling back, using engine braking and dumping the clutch is going to limit it's lifespan much more than one 2,000 rpm clutch engagement will every morning.
