is it best to use original equipment toyota headgasket here or is an aftermarket headgasket okay?

Either is fine, but if you want a great quality headgasket, I suggest a metal headgasket from HKS. My friend has one on his older Supra and he said it was worth the investment.

I've replaced the head gaskets on my toyotas with Fel-Pro and never had a problem with them. I've probably replaced 7 head gaskets and all are still running fine.
