Lowering a 1988 RWD

I've got my '88 pickup, RWD, and I've always wanted to lower it, but never been sure how. A few people have mentioned brackets, a few have mentioned just pulling a leaf spring. Can anyone recomend a cheap way to do this? Brackets, springs, anything really that wont destroy the truck.

A cheap and safe way is lowering blocks in the back. Depending on where you get them they cost around 20-30 bucks a set. I would get drop spindles for the front, it's a lot better than winding your torsion bars down and fucking up the front end. Spindles go for around 200 and something for a set. Go to www.summitracing.com and just look for the spidles and blocks, youll also want to buy new shocks that are for lowered trucks, it'll give you a little bit better ride. The next step up would be airbags, you can get a really good setup from AirRide Technologies for about $1300. Hope this info helps.

Oh, I wouldn't recommend pulling out a leaf spring, or winding down your torsion bars, it's not the smartest thing to do.

i have Belltech spindles and leaf springs on my 87 Turbo. I am looking into getting bigger torsion bars to help smooth the ride out just a bit. This is the second truck I have used these products and I can't say enough about them. Also change your shocks.
