Crank seal replacement 3.0 3VZE

I just received a Timing Belt replacement kit for my 1990 3.0 3VZE. The main reason for doing this job is to replace the crank seal, which is leaking a bunch. The instructions for removing the crankshaft pulley requires the use of a counter-holding bar to be used when removing and installing the crankshaft bolt.

Is a counter-holding bar a readily available tool from autopart stores or can a bar be easily improvised?

Thanks for your input.

Glynn,

I had the same problem but instead opted to use an impact wrench. It broke the nut free no problem.

I started the job Saturday, with the help of a mechanically inclined friend. He tried an impact wrench for a little while with no success and then used a long tapered bar to wedge inside the pulley and leveraged it against the socket. It finally broke free. That's a nice sized bolt holding the crankshaft pulley on.

We discovered that the ac compressor v-belt also needed replacing so I'll have to finish the project later this week.
