Short Block Lifespan

I recently purchased a '93 2wd with a 22RE, 140k. I need to replace the head. I'm wondering how long the short block(if that's the correct term...crank, pistons, rings, bearings) of these motors are good for. The previous owner changed the oil every 3,000 and used it mostly for commuting. I would think it has another 140,000 in it. Any thoughts? Stories?

itll last you forever if you take care of it, and so did the past owners.

Just keep regular maint. on the truck and it will go past 300k mi. these engines are very strong and reliable.Good gas mileage too , except mine .
