Starting issue

My 85 4x4 efi pu, doesnt start if i dont give it a little of gas, or it will start, then die right away. I went to advance auto and they did a free check of my electricals and everything was great, i got a new fuel filter, and cant find the fuel filter presently on my truck, looked in my manual and only found one pic, and it wasnt clear stating.

TY

My '86 has the fuel filter under the intake manifold. Easiest to get to from the passenger wheel well.

I've seen cases where the starter has had to be removed to replace the fuel filter. Just something to keeping mind if it gets a little bit to tight.

Check the starter solenoid plunger and the contact. Here's a DIY site for it: http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/Starter.shtml

Oh, and CuriousBuilder post some pics of your truck. Looks interesting.

It should be quite simple, if you have a little engine knowledge and a good manual.
