Yes as the 22RTE is basically the same as the 22RE except it has a turbo therefore you would have to swap the ECU (EFI computer), it's harness, and maybe it's radiator.I think you could keep the rad I believe they are the same.
If you want more power (torque) put in a diesel as they are awesome, read below for complete details on swaps and sources of parts and info on them:

I have an updated article below containing more Japanese importers of diesel engines & complete vehicles:

The way the price of gasoline (petrol for Australians) is going I suggest that everyone convert their Toyotas to diesel as they are more:

fuel efficient
higher torque
waterproof
simpler
reliable
safer
can idle all day long
less overheat episodes
can burn bio diesel or vegetable oil (without glycerin)

Well to help everyone dismiss the myth that Toyota diesel pickups & SUV's are rare in USA & Canada I have included below a list of very resourcefull links that contain places to buy diesel engines/parts and complete rigs.

The compression is different if I'm correct, and in the turbo engine the pistons are forged. Regular 22re's pistons are not forged. Besides that I don't know much about the 22ret.
