'95 re....valve job?

engnbldr is sending me a timing chain kit and upper gaskets for doing the head, engine has 195,000 miles.
there are a couple of local auto machine shops who will swap the head for a redone one or remachine the head. haven't heard much on this forum on this. is this just as unneccessary as remanning the short block?

I would be hesitant to trade. You don't know the history of the refurb one.

That all depends on the condition of yours. The 22R and RE's have a history of cupping the exhaust valves over time, and in addition to that, all heads just plain get tired. The valve seats and guides have a rough life. For the money spent, I'd say it's well worth it, especially since you have it apart.

I have a '93 with 140k. I just got the head back from the shop. They only had to replace one valve and the seals. It looks new to me, amazing after all those miles.
