I have a question about a certain truck. From what I understand it might be called a Toyota pickup, and even an sr5? And im talking about models like 1988-94. I have a few links to help. I just would like to know exactly what the name of this truck is. Also, i think they might be kind of rare? I dont see them much, and dont see them for sale much either. How much would one cost?

thanks for the replies ya'll. As mentioned, this truck is awesome, I really like it and recently lost the car I was driving, so im looking to get one in the near future. I read in one of the links Sidney gave me, the wikipedia one. I think it said production for the HIlux has stopped in the US and is no longer available here. Is that why I dont see very much of them? If I were to get like say a 1990 4x4 reg cab, in good condition, how much would you think it would cost?
Exactly as rogerman said, in Colorado they are as popular as poo in a toilet. Depends, mostly 2600_7400. my neighbor is trying to sell his 94 black 4x4 xtra cab, for 7400, and i almost bought one fo 2600, and 4500 nice trucks though. worth the money

ok well after researching a little Ive found some trader sites that have them listed, quite a few around the states actually. The good ones, the ones I like run about 7-9.5k, but I have a new question. Some of them have really high miles on them, like some are even 200k miles, and still cost like 8,000 dollars. How much more miles could truck like that put out? If it was well taken care of, whats the max amount of miles it could get without having problems?

If only I lived in colorado. Maybe Ill visit just to buy a cheap truck? heh. Its only about a day and a halfs drive from here. Only problem is, there aint no beaches
Toyota really did have a name for them back in that era. They were just referred to as Toyota "truck" because that was the only truck that Toyota sold in the U.S. at that time.
In Japan it is called the "Hilux".
Those trucks are fairly rare nowdays. Toyota had a lot of problems with body rust in that era.
They have a very solid suspension, frame and driveline. I had an '85 4Runner with 243,000 miles on it and it ran just like a brand-new truck. I really cant complain about the ownership experience with that truck. Other than gas and oil, it never cost me a dime.

Toyota vehicles have been known to get 1 million miles under ideal conditions with good luck while most city mileage ones commonly get 330 000 miles before somewhat requiring some engine repairs.

I "try" to read most of the posts on most of the sites every so often plus once in a while when I feel like it I do a Google search.

yeah cmon on down i saw a 90 for 2600 4x4 xtra cab, with only 150,000-miles. but some one probably already got it... As for mileage my 85 has 185,000-miles, and it runs like a champ, ive seen some with 300,000-miles, with regular tune ups, and TLC. Check E-Bay, good luck.
Dang! I thought I wasted a lot of time on forums but it looks like Sidney puts me to shame.
I used to post regularly on 8 forums (snowmobile, ATV and Toyota forums) but now Im just to just 3.
