One is probably an SR5 model and the other isn't. SR5's had their own packages such as a full set of analog guages, bucket seats, a set of stripes (80's) EFI (again, 80's) and a few other trim pieces. These days, the only way you can tell the difference between the bottom of the line model and an SR5 is the SR5 badge. Gone are the days of the glorious stripes and other trim pieces that made an SR5 model stand out
yup, i had two 1993 trucks and both did NOT have tachs....just a bigass speedo.
However, i saw some xtra-cabs with factory tachs. Yes, SR5's typically have all the bells & whistles, while my olds '93's were standard cabs with only AC as an option.

Yeah, my dads old 1995 NON sr5 truck had a tach. The ones I was looking at were both DLX abd one had a tach the other didn't. Both 5 Speeds, both single cab and both short bed. Maybe it was an option when it was originally purchased.
The tach was probably a factory option on the non-SR5s.
Cap'n
YES, actually certain areas of the region did offer factory options like tachs. I am fairly certain that the south west did NOT offer this option b/c I searched for a few years when the base tacoma's came out in the mid 90's and the deal couldn't even order me one with a tach unless I got the SR5 extra cab ....

My '93 XtraCab V6 5-speed (non-SR5) has the full set of gauges (including tach, volts, oil pressure). That's just the way it came - I didn't select it as an option. Point of allocation / sale = Ohio.
