95 22re pickup, step bumper

was going to make a rear bumper out of wood, decided against it and just buy one. best price for a step bumper i've found is $140. from jc whitney. any better price for a step or other kind of rear bumper?

If you can weld, it is easy to modify a used bumper, or to make your own from scrap steel. If you can't weld but want to learn, this would be a great first project.

My chrome rear bumper on my 92 is completely rusted out. I was going to remove it from the frame, but can't find a socket wrench large enough for the bolt. But it's so rusted that nothing short of an impact wrench would ever get it off.

took some effort to get my step bumper off. used penetrating oil spray for a couple days, and then got tired and heated the bolts with an acetylene plumbing torch, got it red, and was able to slowly turn them off.
if you don't have heat, see if you can get a can of aerokroil penetrant and spray the bolts every day for a couple of weeks. that had worked for me if i had the patience.
