...anyone experience these things flying off their truck? I was reading about them
here and found out it's a common problem. I'm missing two of them on my ride and was about to purchase two new ones, but if they're just going to fly off again what's the point?
Has anybody found a nice-looking replacement that actually stays on the wheel? And I'm not talking about those cheap, $14.00 Wal Mart two packs of whatever plastic crap they sell.
Also, I have a theory as to why these hubcaps seem to come off the 92-94 models. I don't know about anyone else, but my 92 22RE's suspension seemed to go downhill very quickly during the latter part of the 90s, and I still haven't replaced the pricey set of new shocks and springs. I'm assuming the loss of the hubcaps is not a problem with the wheel, but rather caused due to the rough and bumpy ride most Toyota pickups exhibit later in life. One time at night I was on a rough back road and when I got home I noticed a hubcap was missing. Arrgh.
I suppose I could settle this by purchasing a new set of alloys, but the fact of the matter is the truck's just too darn old for new rims, and who has an extra 500 bucks to stick into a rusty, 13 year-old truck, regardless if it's a Toyota? Especially if it's purely for cosmetic appeal.
