Oil in Water

I'm replacing my timing chain since it broke. Ater the chain broke I noticed I had oil in my coolant. There doesn't appear to be water in th oil. Strange, because usually it's the other way around. The timing chain cover was broken by the chain but I still don't see how the oil went into the water. I had the head pressure tested and they said it was OK.

Anyone else ever have this problem? Or, know how it could happen?

sounds like Blown Head Gasget. Not sure though. That's the only way I've heard of them mixing. I have also heard of oil in the water before with a BHG. Sorry I hope this isn't the case

Check the timing cover for wear marks from the timing chain. These motors are notorious for wearing through the plastic timing chain guides and then through the timing cover. Also check the head. I've heard of the timing chain wearing through the head as well. Did you upgrade to the metal timing chain guides?

The timing chain cover was all busted up by the chain when it broke. That is probably where it occured, but I can't figure out how. You'd think it would have went water into oil. I had the head inspected and it appears OK. I had thought that the head gasket went but it doesn't look like it. I was lucky in that no valves were bent. I did have to replace one since it was slightly burned.

Looks like I'll just put it together and hope for the best.
