It will work. Since the cluster you have came from a V6, you will need to recalibrate the tach for your 22re. this is very easy to do. open up the cluster, remove the speedo, and plug in the unit. with the car running turn the small "white potentiameter" pointing towards where the speedo was. match the rpms with another tach and your done. replace the speedo and enjoy. BTW, don't forget to replace your oil pressure sender with one that matches that cluster. the idiot light sender will fry the 4runner/SR5 oil pressure gauge.

Get ready for a lot of rewiring. It is not a plug and play type swap. I converted my non-tach cluster ('86 4runner 22re) to a tach cluster from a '85 22re pickup. First of all, the tach wire is not just there. You have to run a wire from the coil. The gas guage would not work, had to move wires in the harness. Had to rewire for battery and oil pressure guages.
Just wanted to let you know, it is a great swap to do but be prepared to work on it.

SWEET>>>> I'm glad it all worked out for you. I've done many of these swaps for all my friends, Most are plug and play like yours, but there are a few that need me to run a tach wire from the coil to the cluster. No problem though, running the wire takes less than 5 min. and the tach recalibrating takes about another 5 min. I'm GLAD you got yours in. ENJOY>
