Just bought 02 Taco DblCab - Is it keyless?

Hi all,

I just bought an 02 v6 doublecab and I'm trying to figure out if it has keyless entry or not. The seller (carmax) didn't know, but I found a bunch of info about an Audiovox Pursuit keyless entry system with the owners manual. I couldn't find a control box or siren in thr truck.

Any thoughts? I'd hate to spend >$50 on a transmitter I can't use...

The factory keyless entry system wouldn't say Audiovox.
You could find out if it had keyless from the factory by contacting Toyota corporate or a dealer and asking them to look up the original configuration based on the VIN number.

Around that time, keyless entry went hand-in-hand with Toyota's VIP alarm system. It doesn't have a separate, big alarm speaker - it's wired into the car's main harness, so it uses the regular horn. Another clue would be a security light on the dash. If there's a light along with a little microphone - a glass-breakage sensor - then you have Toyota's alarm and keyless entry.

if its doesn't have an OEM Toyota keyless from the factory then the Aidiovox is what the dealer would install themselves. Check with your local dealer and they can let you know about getting a remote. It shouldn't be a problem. This is how we do it at the dealer I work at and we have tons of remotes just laying around. I'm sure they can get something done for you.

Hmmm, well I don't see a light anywhere, nor any suspicious boxes. I know audiovox equipment isn't something to brag about, so I didn't think Toyota would use it as OEM. I know the original dealership it was sold from so I'll give them a call tomorrow.
