Well, since nobody will answer ya', I'll shoot w/ my .02..............
From my drag racin' days, I'd say that's a fairly expensive cam, except it is a pair so maybe $275 ain't bad.........(dunno, as it's been a while for me).......BUT.......
.400 lift and 222 duration is not too abusive for a daily driver. I wouldn't be expecting to get 300,000 miles out of it before a freshening, but not bad. (Over .500 lift and over 300 duration and you're getting out of the daily-driver category, though plenty still do it)
As for the valve facing, it's basically about the contact angles of the valve job. In this case, it sounds like they want to create a 1 degree offset to allow the smaller diameter of the valve to make contact with the seat as to avoid beating the outer edge of the valves out of shape.
My guess is that with only a one-degree difference it's more or less that they want to *lean* that way as many folks "lap" their valve jobs with the seats/valves after the grinding's done to create a more "medial" or "blended" contact area. OR they *could* mean 44 the other way, meaning that you sacrifice the valve for the sake of the valve seat. If the valve comes slamming down on the outer edge of the valve job then you're dispersing the impact over a greater surface area.......(cheezy example: 40.010mm vs. 40.120mm).....but I don't think you could go wrong with a 45/45 valve job. Then again, if you wanted to throw caution to the wind, you could forget the valve job all together and assume that Toyota chose the best grind for the valves/seats originally.
As with all mods.......(like this cam).......you're improving simply *ONE* area of the motor's performance level. Whenever you do just a cam, motors will usually benefit quite a bit from porting work, increased fuel-flow, increased air-flow, new or stiffer valve springs etc. etc. It's up to you how much you want to *compliment* the cam job if you do it, but wherever you go to have the valve job done, they'll probably ask what you're doing and ask if you would like to compliment your cam job with the above stuff at the same time.
And as they say........."The SKY'S the limit!"
